That’s more like it …
An action movie that actually feels like an action movie, with grit, well crafted action set pieces, and some of the most gritting and intense stunts I have ever seen. I’ve liked all of the John Wick movies, I have been championing them as one of the best modern action franchises. I loved the first one, really enjoyed the second one and adored the third one. But this … man bro. This movie in many ways feels like the prime John Wick experience, it feels bigger, more violent, more incredible stunts, and the best looking of them all. The John Wick movies have always looked great, but this takes the cake as the most prettiest and best directed of the bunch. Chad Stahelski has really shown himself as a filmmaker, and we he does is nothing short to incredible. There is an entire 30 minute action scene that is literally none stop, it is so fucking good and had my mouth dropping as it kept going on. The scope and size of this thing is insane, and it was fucking awesome throughout the entire thing.
The scope of setting is even leveled up as well, John Wick travels everywhere around the glob. To New York, to Osaka, to Russia, and France — it felt so fucking big and each location was just amazing.
I know many are gonna have gripes with the runtime, but man this is a movie that fits well with its runtime. It never overstays its welcome and it never felt quick, it was the right amount of action and story beats that I really liked.
Also, for many who claim this franchise has no story substance are so dead wrong. The story is felt here, and it’s accompanied by some of the best modern action sequences/set pieces to date.
I loved everyone here, Keanu Reeves, Donnie Yen, Rina Sawayama was extremely badass. A character Mr Nobody who i found to be super awesome. This movie sets these characters up for future spin-offs and I can’t wait to see them in the near future. This was just an incredible experience, it soared as an action film and it was satisfying with its story and character work as well. I highly recommend this film, especially if you already love the John Wick films because to me this right here is the best one.
Also side note, I feel like Keanu Reeves is the only one who can say “yeah” with two syllables lol
