Casino Royale ★★★★

Martin Campbell to the rescue! Just like with GoldenEye, the director is summoned to bring Bond back from the dead again.
If a deep reinvention is what they wanted, there was no way to keep Brosnan any longer. After Die Another Day, this series was shifting from spy action to fantasy too quickly. Craig ended up being such a great Bond, specially because he's a flawed one.
Mads Mikkelsen provides an interesting, more cerebral opponent to this new Bond and Judi Dench's M also has a new, more maternal approach to his new agent.
Action set-pieces got revamped too. Out with the CGI and in with spectacular parkour chasing scenes.
The only thing I believe is a misstep in such a great movie is Eva Green's Vesper and his relation with Bond. Their relation takes too much screen time and makes the third act feels dragged.
