Jake Calta’s review published on Letterboxd:
A stone-cold holiday classic! Some of the finest songs of the Maury Laws/Jules Bass in-house partnership (and some stupendous renderings of holiday standards "Here Comes Santa Claus" and "Blue Christmas"), some of the most charming characterizations on account of the loaded cast, and some of the most amusing humor to come out of any special, ironically not from Rankin/Bass regular Romeo Muller, but from William Keenan. The Year Without a Santa Claus is a big beautiful hilarious cup of cheer from the merriment foundry that Rankin/Bass had become at this point. Recommended without reservation. A true staple of the season.
