Man... this movie was all over the place, somewhat of an -at times- beautiful mess. Almost every element of the movie was overdone and underdone at times in a way I’ve rarely seen before, with the pluses coming through Tom Holland’s performance and some incredible shots and the minuses coming through the haphazard nature of the movie and a tendency for the Russo Brothers to spent questionable amounts of time on some of the more uninteresting aspects of…

    The End of the Tour

    ★★★★½

Provocative at its core, The End of the Tour follows the days spent between Rolling Stones writer David Lipsky and the brilliant David Foster Wallace, author of acclaimed novel "Infinite Jest." The account, although fictionally presented, is truly compelling, lending insight into the thoughts of a genius author, which can extend on a larger scale to encompass the general aura of the stereotypical introspective (dare I say reclusive) littérateur. Bo Burnham: Inside

This is one of the most unique and creative projects I’ve ever seen, full of existential thought and revelations while also ripe with perspective on many issues within our modern society. Bo questions his role in the world through a humorous lens, frequently remarking on whether or not he’s adding to the problem but trudging through his various songs nonetheless. An extraordinary glimpse into the mind and workspace of potentially the most exciting comedian of our generation. Highly recommend.

    ★★★★

This is a special film not just for the incredible true story but for the way the story is conveyed. Legendary actor Sean Penn delivers in a directorial role, paying tribute to the legacy of Chris McCandless with a plethora of existential beauty and realistic experiences derived from his journal. Into the Wild is about finding happiness and appreciating beauty in the non-conventional sense, the beauty of the natural world and the road less traveled.

I don’t exactly understand why this movie has been hit so hard in the form of negative reviews, but from my point of view the performances carry an intriguing sequence of events, and Ron Howard’s directorial style delivers another good movie (albeit not his finest work by a long shot). Hillbilly Elegy is the type of film that one can get a high rewatch value out of, and much of that is due to the ease with which…
