JR’s review published on Letterboxd:
Simple in an after-school special way, not simple in a CW drama way, the way a Marvel film is; clumsy like a Boorman film and its charmless poetic logic and sense of Romantic ellipses, not clumsy in the absolutely-not-clumsy-at-all way of the Marvel films. When your basic quandary is essentially ludicrous - the ramifications of "gods" existing amongst men - then you need to approach it this way, not with the soap opera pathetic appeals of Avengers. I wish Wonder Woman was integrated more meaningfully in the drama, but the film nevertheless works in an engulfing, consistently compelling, fearlessly visual way.
