What a great introduction to Turkish cinema! I have seen several films produced in the country before, but none of them have impressed me as much as Nuri Bilge Ceylan's Distant did. This is an honest and brutal portrayal of emptiness. Everyone will be able to relate to this film and it will not leave you with a smile on your face. The strong plot is supported by stunning cinematography as well. I have never seen Istanbul covered in snow before. Can't wait to check out the rest of Ceylan's filmography!
