A Retrospective on Post-WW2 Philippine Cinema (1946-1961)

Over the next few weeks I want to explore the films of what is sometimes referred to as the First Golden Age of Philippine Cinema. I’ve only included films that I haven’t seen yet, which is why some popular films like Anak Dalita, Biyaya ng Lupa, and Malvarosa are not here on the list.

I’ll try my best to review and contextualize them all under the lens of Philippine history and possibly through propaganda as well, if applicable.

I was heavily inspired by recommendations from this list by Channie which you should all definitely check out as well.
