Had the pleasure of introducing my nephew to this classic last night.  Minor flaws aside, this is still one of the best and most iconic films of the ‘90s.  

I can still remember seeing this in the theater, elated at the fact that this seemed like the dawning of a whole new age of horror and slasher films after many dry, uninspired years. As is always the case with huge, trend-setting hits, it fueled the creation of many good movies AND bad movies before its influence mutated and faded away.  I do believe its imprint can still be felt, though, in the intelligence and critical respect of today’s best indie horror and in the fact that barely a month goes by without a new horror movie or two in multiplexes.
