while i don't think kaufman quite reached the surreal lucidity of his other films, i appreciate the particular ways that his adaptation is tailored to the medium (especially in the scenes with the mother and father). subtle changes in wardrobe, accent, and affect challenge our perception of what is ostensibly true – though "reality" only occurs once, our subconscious transcends the physical. jessie and jesse were incredible. my brain has melted. my all-purpose review: wow!
