Undeniably one of the greatest scripts to come out of the noir genre. Every line sizzles with a perfect back and forth ratatat rhythm. Love the structure too. The smooth romance of the first half giving way to a rapid decent into full blown incomprehensible noir plot in the back half. Glorious to behold.

Fuuuuuuuck this was so good!!! Shots of grass blowing in the wind have never been more engaging!!! That mask is one of the best special effects in any movie!! Instant tension!!! Nobuko Otowa giving a HELL of a performance!! Horny!! Titties!!! Like watching a group of miserable and tortured souls march through the gates of Hell!! An all timer in my book!!
Starts off really fun with some fun ideas about the collective mind but god the last half of this movie falls off a damn cliff. Seems overly mean and aggressively unfocused. The most frustrating kind of movie that has good craft and ideas but ultimately can’t think of anything solid to say.
