Jakub Flasz’s review published on Letterboxd:
"I saw the devil" is a cinematic premature ejaculation. It starts off very strong with a refreshing premise and a bold take on the graphic violence and overall visual treatment, but the film blows its load really halfway through the second act and all I had to play with until the very end was a lethargic, flaccid sausage, so much that by the end I was wondering why I even bothered in the first place.
It only goes to show that a cool premise isn't anywhere near enough for a satisfying experience. The characters need to earn their arcs and the story (especially one like that) has to lead somewhere... anywhere...
You can't just light the candles and put some music on to make that night a special one. You need to fuck me properly.
