An unfortunate and disappointing misfire. Narratively, Fear Street: 1666 reduces and undercuts its thematic message and storyline. The latter lacks a certain gravitas in casting the same performers in different roles, an element that undercuts the conversation on LGBTQ+ existence in those who came before, and their message and story. It's use here feels inadvertently self-indulgent and undermines that notion. Secondly, the audience are just left to watch filler with a twist added in for safe measure to make the narrative relevant. Granted, it has suspense and interest but the viewer is ultimately left waiting for the inevitable. Nevertheless, this is a feature with fantastic costume and production design with equally as strong performances but alas, is a feature that is very lite and flat.
