    Slayers

I’ve said over and over again that I’ll always love watching influencers getting slaughtered but Slayers made me eat those words..

This film is just flat out terrible. The plot sounds initially clever, vampiric overlords preying on the social media crowd. However, the commentary is overshadowed by obnoxiously endless cut scenes that include: an uninspired origin story for an unlikeable hero, an anticlimactic YouTube tutorial that interrupts the crux of the story, and bizarre history rewrites with vampire conspiracies woven…

  • A House on the Bayou

    A House on the Bayou

    ★★½

An odd home invasion plot with a couple twists.

I definitely couldn’t predict where this one was headed which is usually a trait I admire about a film. However, A House on the Bayou’s reveals just didn’t hold up for me. The supernatural elements muddied the waters of what was already a pretty convoluted plot. I also just wasn’t on board with any of the character’s decisions throughout.

I thought the performances were decent, some quality actors do the best…

  • The Sadness

    The Sadness

    ★★★★

One of the most depraved films I have ever seen..

If you’re the type that needs any kind of trigger warning before diving into a film, you’re going to want to skip this one. The Sadness does a damn thorough job of depicting all the most heinous acts imaginable. A creatively sick mind went to some dark places for this one. Everything from the ideas the infected have, to the depictions of their violence, all the way down to the…

This film is such a vibe, watch it with some bass!

I watched this one at home with surround sound and even if they weren’t exactly my jams, there’s no denying this soundtrack slaps. This is one of few films that personifies an actual house party, I think those who know will appreciate it for that. (A hurricane sounds like an excuse my fiends and I would’ve used to party, plus what a clever way to isolate our characters without…

    Scream

I will never tire of watching this film.

It feels like a sin to admit this but Scream is my favorite slasher.  No disrespect to the juggernauts of the genre, Halloween, A Nightmare on Elm Street, Black Christmas, Psycho, they’re all masterpieces in my book. Scream however, I’ve seen the most times and it just seems to keep getting better and better. And let’s be honest the franchise as a whole far outshines it’s slasher peers. Neve Campbell and…

A Nightmare on Elm Street 3: Dream Warriors

    ★★★★½

Freddy falls in love with the word bitch in this one and never looks back

Although I didn’t find it quite as scary, I love this film just as much as the first in the franchise, it’s definitely my favorite of the sequels. Freddys one liners are a bit cheesy but remain pretty iconic. I love the imaginative plot, the visuals and set pieces are brilliant. One of my earliest memories of a horror film is the strange snake creature…
