First impressions:
I liked this overall. The Sam Raimi directing was awesome and there were even some chilling horror moments and callbacks to The Evil Dead Trilogy, which I loved. The craft was great all around. In Sam we trust!
I loved everything with Wanda’s arc. The cameos pulled me out of the movie a bit, but I did enjoy seeing Hayley Atwell as Captain Carter. All the deaths of the multiverse heroes was so cool, but no Ioan Gruffudd also really annoyed me. I liked Patrick Stewart being a giant red herring, somewhat reminding me of certain aspects of James Gunn’s The Suicide Squad.
Every movie needs to end with Bruce Campbell telling us “It’s over,” and then Ocean Man plays.
Legit though, the trailer for Avatar: The Way of Water was my favorite part. I am rooting for James Cameron’s four sequels to succeed, and always have been.
