  • Shiva Baby

    Shiva Baby 2020

★★★★ Rewatched by Jake Alda Coffey 18 May 2022

This movie always makes my skin crawl in the best possible ways

I’ve talked to Max Brooks, the author of the book this movie is “based” on, about this movie adaptation in his novel and he absolutely hates this movie. And with good reason. The movie is nothing like the book. If they stuck to the book’s content, I feel like it would’ve been a fresh take on a zombie film.

    THX 1138 1971

This had some pretty cool effects for a movie that came out in 1971.

    It was not giving.

  • Operation Mincemeat

    Operation Mincemeat 2021

★★½ Watched by Jake Alda Coffey 16 May 2022

This felt far too long and uninteresting at times. Great cast though! And I’ll still support this movie since I wish there were more WWII movies being made this decade.

  • Inside Llewyn Davis

    Inside Llewyn Davis 2013

★★★★★ Rewatched by Jake Alda Coffey 16 May 2022 2

I know I’m in the minority, but this is my favorite Coen Brothers movie. The movie creates a set of loneliness & depression you don’t see from other movies.

  • Our Father

    Our Father 2022

★★★ Watched by Jake Alda Coffey 16 May 2022

These Netflix documentaries just keep getting weirder and weirder

  • Senior Year

    Senior Year 2022

★ Watched by Jake Alda Coffey 15 May 2022

This movie doesn’t make any logical sense, and the filmmakers didn’t really seem to care about that, which would be fine if the movie was at least funny. But it’s not. In fact, the “comedy” is so cringingly bad, it was hard to get through parts of the movie. And every character was so unlikable and annoying. I want to see Rebel Wilson in more leading roles, but I want those movies to be at least half decent.

If the Steve Buscemi “how do you do fellow kids?” Meme was a movie, it would be this.

  • DodgeBall: A True Underdog Story

DodgeBall: A True Underdog Story 2004

★★★★ Rewatched by Jake Alda Coffey 14 May 2022

I haven’t seen this is over a decade and it still holds up overall! Laughed a lot. It’s fun, quick & lite comedy. Great cast.

  • One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest

One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest 1975

★★★★★ Rewatched by Jake Alda Coffey 14 May 2022

This movie is perfect, there’s no flaws to be had in it. One of my favorite movies.

  • On the Count of Three

On the Count of Three 2021

★★★★★ Rewatched by Jake Alda Coffey 13 May 2022

“guns give insecure men the illusion of power”

ON THE COUNT OF THREE was my favorite movie I saw at Sundance in 2021 and I loved it even more during my second viewing. It’s brilliant. The movie is both darkly hilarious and at times raw & unsettling. Christopher Abbott gives his best performance yet. And Jerrod Carmichael does a great job as a first time director. They balance the dark tones to perfection. It deals a serious subject with humor and…
