Jake Alda Coffey’s review published on Letterboxd:
For the final film at the Hampton international Film Festival, is the sequel to KNIVES OUT, GLASS ONION. For its story, it doesn’t quite live up to Knives Out, but I still found Glass Onion to be a little more entertaining and funnier than the first movie. A whole new oddball cast of characters with some fun cameos make this sequel a hoot to watch. Some of the story and shots reminded me of my favorite whodunnit movie, CLUE, which was also referenced a few times throughout the movie. There was about 30 mins in the middle where it was nonstop exposition given to the audience that I felt could’ve been given more spread out a bit more. A couple of the characters (primarily Kate Hudson’s character) felt a bit over the top in their performance compared to the rest of the cast. And I’m not a fan of the last 10 mins. But nonetheless this was a pretty entertaining movie and a solid sequel.
And with that, it’s a wrap at this year’s HIFF! I didn’t get to see everything I wanted to see but still managed to see 17 movies. On top of that I got to spend 10 days with my grandparents who live 10 minutes from where HIFF was being held. So when I wasn’t seeing a movie, I was making more memories with them. A successful & productive 10 days!
