Evangelion: 3.0 You Can (Not) Redo

Evangelion: 3.0 You Can (Not) Redo ★★★★½

Initially was skeptical of Evangelion: 3.0 You Can (Not) Redo because my feelings about these Rebuild of Evangelion films was somewhat lukewarm at first, yet I think this is the point where I'm starting to be won over by them. Perhaps it's the fact that Evangelion: 3.0 feels so disconnected from Neon Genesis Evangelion that allowed me to stick with it more than the preceding films, but it reminded me of the very feeling that I got out of watching End of Evangelion and everything that made it so harrowing.

Hideaki Anno's still got it, but that impending sense of doom as explored in the whole series, only ever feels so chaotic here and I get why these films don't work for everyone. Yet for me, Evangelion will always hold a special place in my heart.
