I enjoyed this one a lot more than I could really say I did most of Disney's recent animated fare - but there's also something about the way that Encanto unfolds that feels rather refreshing for a Disney animated feature. Perhaps it might just be the fact that there's no villain, or that even the scale, with all the fantastical elements feels more laid back than most of their usual fare, but mostly because that all makes this one feel very mature - in a manner that'll be bound to resonate with audiences of all sorts.
Surely enough, that's what Disney can manage at some of their very best. This feels like it could very well be up there, and even the songs are quite lovely too.
