Dane Ray’s review published on Letterboxd:
Vastly entertaining and epic. The ultimate revenge story, 175 years old and just as captivating as ever.
Caviezel is excellent across the stages of Dante’s’ life. A naive young man, a hopeless prisoner, and a bitter and hateful Count who must find redemption before revenge takes him over completely.
Richard Harris is a delight as Dantes’ cell mate and mentor; his last movie before he died.
Some cheesy moments, but fun and engaging throughout. Even a super young Superman pops up, with Henry Cavill playing Dantes’ son.
Classic and overlooked.
