John Wick: Chapter 4

John Wick: Chapter 4 ★★★★★

An incredibly easy 5 stars from me. Even though I knew in my heart they somehow would, I genuinely didn’t know how they could possibly top the previous one. In the end though, they sure as hell did just that with John Wick: Chapter 4. The action is even crazier this time. (choreography, stunts, execution, the wonderfully brutal chaos of it, all flawless) There’s so much action in this that one would worry it would get exhausting, but it just never does, and pretty much every set-piece manages to top the last one, and the creatively is still off the charts here, lots of fun new things done. The world is expanded upon even further and the new characters introduced were all ones I very much enjoyed. (plus they got some incredibly talented actors to play them, my favorite here was Donnie Yen, I mean wow) This is the longest film in the franchise so far and the pacing is absolutely perfect, it doesn’t feel it’s length in the slightest. The filmmaking is still excellent all around. with some very flashy scenes particularly standing out. The story and dialogue are handled with ease and always engage, the locations featured look gorgeous in every imaginable way, (and there were a lot of them) the score was stylishly awesome, the performances were all stand-out (shout out to Lance Reddick, he will be missed) Keanu Reeves was made for this role, I’m very much thinking it’s one of the best action movies I’ve ever seen, and it delivered on everything I could’ve wanted from a movie like this. It is a truly, truly impressive feat of filmmaking, and I could not be happier with the final result. This is cinema through and through, an absolute masterpiece of the genre, I love it.
