The Night Blade Feeds

Trying to let these live in the head for a little bit before I write something, and glad I did in this case. Went from feeling a distant admiration, to being pulled into its frothing berserker nightmare. Like seeing the light of stars through blood. As many have pointed out, it’s fascinating to see a movie that a Viking would probably enjoy watching (kind of the beauty of Eggers work in whole), a world where gaping wounds are cosmic windows, and where a witch asks you to direct your questions to him, since he has ears, and the shriveled head you’re conversing with does not.

A pretty straightforward and ugly tale of revenge, richly animated by the storytelling of gnarled wood, woven things, red-soaked teeth, and fleeting glimpses into the other branches of Yggdrasil.

There’s also a brief skeleton guy appearance—icing on the cake. I can’t wait to watch this again.
