Me watching this movie is every 30 seconds going "oh fuck"
It's very interesting to watch this in contrast to Jackals & Fireflies, Charlie Kaufman's new short film which just dropped today. There's certainly a throughline to this and Jackals, with a woman's perspective via voice-over and a growing interest in the ephemeral. However, the artifice of I'm Thinking of Ending Things is striking against the quasi-verité style of the short film, and most certainly works into the subtext of both.…
I enjoyed the gravitas of Laurence Fishburne, especially since I've never seen him lead a film before, but the film doesn't meet his match at all.
