This film has some emotional highs where my eyes were glued to the screen, and some lows where i nearly fell asleep. It's a film with many interesting ideas but doesnt always have an interesting way to present them. Performances that are at times filled with so much passion and nuance (Sheila McCarthy my personal stand out, though Michelle McLeod deserves much praise) and at times felt like just totally one note (Rooney Mara).

It's a mixed bag of a movie for me, but by the end of it I felt a lot more respect for it as a whole than perhaps any of its lone parts deserve. But, also, I could see myself appreciating this more on multiple watches.

I still really hate that color grading though.
