Hereditary

Hereditary ★★★★★

I’m sure everyone agrees, but this is undoubtably one of the best horror movies of all time. Like in the same category of The Exorcist and The Shining. This only came out two years ago and I can say with confidence that besides John Carpenter’s The Thing, this is my favorite horror movie of all time. Every time I rewatch this movie, I’m beyond impressed by how well put together the story is. The more you watch it, the more things you’ll catch onto to help understand what happened and why it happened. The acting was tip top, especially for the lead Toni Colette. I’m still salty as hell that The Academy didn’t acknowledge her performance as Annie. The grief she displayed on screen for the loses she endured was so brutal and believable. Just put yourself in her shoes for what she went through. How would you instantly react?

I’ll still never forget, going into the theater blindly to watch this movie after only seeing the trailer once and just being blown away. The scene that shocks everyone involving a handy dandy telephone pole had a collective gasp in the theater that I’ll never forget.

But yeah, perfect horror movie and definitely one of my all time faves. I’m such a nerd that I have the A24 screenplay book, spent $60 on an arts and crafts Korean Blu Ray for the movie, and I own three t-shirts from the movie. I also just ordered two more shirts from the movie today since one of the independent horror clothing companies I order from had a release this afternoon.
