Rian Johnson sure knows how to make ‘em great, doesn’t he? A terrific script, great directing, well written characters and a better than perfect cast.
You can tell Rian Johnson really had a blast making this considering I had a blast watching it. Such a fun ride from beginning to end.
I’ve never seen Ana De Armas in any other film so seeing her in this was great. She really did stand out very well. Her character had a lot of depth and her acting was top notch. Another stand out for me was Chris Evans. I’m used to seeing him as old timer Captain America so it’s such a joy seeing him play such a crude and mean character.
Another thing I loved about this movie (and I wouldn’t be surprised if it got nominations) but the production design was great and the costume design was perfect. I never really pay much attention to what people wear in movies but I loved everyone’s outfits in this. From the privileged family to Daniel Craig’s detective outerwear. I loved all of it.
This film is great and it’s definitely added to one of my favorites of the year. It has everything you could ever want in a murder/mystery plus a twist that you may never see coming. I wouldn’t mind if Rian Johnson continued to make more of these types of films but then again, I’d watch anything that Rian Johnson is a part of.
