    Killer Book Club

    ★★

Another Disturbingly bad “original” from Netflix.

Spanish slasher thriller Killer Book Club wore its cinematic influences on its sleeve - so much that it almost felt like a mean-spirited parody. You’ve got scenes obviously copy pasted from Valentine, Scream, and I Know What You Did Last Summer. Additionally, the storytelling is skewed, the twists are obvious from miles away, and the acting performances further lowers the bar. Killer Book Club slumped early and never recovered.

Though the lighting and set designing gets my nod of approval, Killer Book Club should be written off your watchlist.

In the minority again. I love this. I watched it twice in a day!

Foe is a psychological sci-fi thriller drama about a couple whose strained marital life is disturbed by a pending journey to space. Many bemoan this Garth Davis movie as a weak, Black Mirror-esque foray to artificial humanity, but Foe is a cinematic friend in my book.

    The Danish Girl

    ★★★★½

The Danish Girl seemed to not age well with all the negative reviews here. And while your opinion and points are never unreasonable, just please hear me out: while this movie may be biologically inaccurate, it showed how far we've come since the 1930s. If Lili Elbe experienced cruelty and discrimination, its because homosexuality was heavily fawned upon then. If The Danish Girl repeatedly and erroneously misgendered Lili, its because she was misgendered in her days. This is a sad reality…

    Memoirs of a Geisha

    ★★★

    Mixed feelings.
Rob Marshall's film about a young girl who grew up to be the most sought after geisha in Japan feels like three seasons worth of a series was crammed into one. What's impressive about Memoirs Of A Geisha is the lavish art direction, costume design, music, cinematography and set design. Every artistic detail is immaculate and regal. The acting of our main cast ranges from good to strong too. But Gong Li is the real star here; a…
