I thought it was interesting to strip away color from a setting that’s often expressed as vibrant. But this film is not about Mexico. It’s about the people.
The black and white hues of the images blur together. But then there are these long takes where moments are frozen. It’s like a small breath at the end of a speech.
It’s films like these that are not necessarily narrative driven that I have to sit with for a while and take in that breath. Nothing happens but also...a lot of stuff happens. How very human.
