Ian Curran’s review published on Letterboxd:
“Learn a lot.”
One of the most ambitious serial killer movies ever made. It manages to operate masterfully on multiple levels: a murder mystery, a newspaper movie, a police investigation thriller. It also has moments of tension that would rival any horror movie.
What I love most about Zodiac is how it explores the ripple effects the killings have on the wider culture. We see how fear turns the nightly news and morning talk shows into a magnet for peoples morbid curiosity. We see how Hollywood is ‘inspired’ by the events that unfolded in the Bay area. But most of all we see how the threat of death and the burden of unanswered questions hang heavy over the lives of everyone involved in the case.
