this might be an edgelord take but there’s something about the combination of gore and romance that feels so perfect to me. they both enhance each other in a really necessary, beautiful way

always thankful that we got this gem before McKay jumped the shark of insufferablility. to me at least, this is juuuuuust annoying enough

A perversion of consequences leads to the ultimate test of humiliation and paranoia. It’s like if Possession (1981) had more gags and boobs. Upsetting but also surprisingly funny

some of the most suspenseful scenes i’ve ever seen put to film. hanks is phenomenal

(it drags a little bit but i guess that was probably necessary to stay true to the story)

pretty insane how much grander the scope of this thing got compared to the first one, but i guess that’s the magic of the #sequel, baby! very funny, the cast is wonderful, the set design is mind blowing, the twists and turns work well, etc etc etc. i hope rian and daniel can make as many of these things as they want

really enjoyed this. for me, it captured the conflicting, growing-up-with-the-internet feelings of absolute emptiness x having unlimited access to everything all the time forever. you wanna feel something, wanna be apart of something, but at what cost?

the mixed mediums were really well-done, anna cobb is great, and alex g went apeshit on the score. couldn’t imagine a more fitting musician for the movie

takes a special movie to make me cry for the US military AND Miles Teller, but that’s the magic of cinema, baby! structurally, this thing is very by the numbers, but every filmmaking aspect is done so well. Tom Cruise is a specimen

a rewatch really helps you appreciate Pontius’ skimpy outfits even more ♥️💅

the best part about this movie is the comic relief of some guy getting dropkicked every 30 minutes

it’s even better on a rewatch because you can harmonize with paul dano as he sings ave maria

just an absolute joy. one of my favorite theater-going experiences ever (everybody was just having a ball). the “silence of the lambs” bit is top 5 ever imo
