  • The Humans

    The Humans

    ★★★★

add this to the Shiva Baby canon of “the existential horror and suspense of plain, old life and spending time with your family”

  • The French Dispatch

    The French Dispatch

    ★★★½

i liked everything here but didn’t quite love any of it. i feel like the “style over substance” argument hits even harder when it’s an anthology 🤷‍♂️

  • Pee-wee's Big Adventure

    Pee-wee's Big Adventure

    ★★★½

on one hand, Pee-wee was very annoying……on the other hand, there were a ton of truly bizarre gags that made me laugh out loud. also, i am terrified in what goes on in the mind of danny elfman. there’s no way that he knows peace.

  • Eternals

    Eternals

    ★★★

This review may contain spoilers. I can handle the truth.

need a gif of druig hitting sprite in the head with the rock 🙏🙏🙏

it’s insane how they had 2 Game of Thrones actors, a character named Cersei, and Ramin Djawadi on the score

  • Spencer

    Spencer

    ★★★★

this was cool and everything but i did NOT expect them to have a cameo from young john mulaney at the end. (plz nobody inform me if people have already made that joke)

this was good! kristen stewart absolutely does diana justice (oscar nom for sure), sean harris was amazing, the outfits made me wish i was a late 20th century british princess, and jonny greenwood went apeshit on the score

  • Last Night in Soho

    Last Night in Soho

as a huge fan of both edgar wright and anya taylor-joy…it pains me to say that i kinda hated this. it has none of the charm that wright usually brings and the film never commits to the edgy, psychological thriller that it tries to be. just awkward 😔

  • Dune

    Dune

    ★★★½

pretty good! i’ve seen so many people talking about how the original is too confusing — and i don’t think that’s a problem whatsoever here. everything is straightforward. the only issue is that there’s *so* much world building, that it doesn’t give us much time for an actual movie. on the plus side: it’s ridiculously gorgeous and the casting is just about perfect, but it was odd walking out of this feeling like i just watched 2.5 hours of prologue.

  • The Rocky Horror Picture Show

    The Rocky Horror Picture Show

    ★★★½

there is so much movie packed into this movie. idk how it took me this long to see it, and the unreal expectations of everyone saying “omg you HAVENT SEEN ROCKY HORROR???” probably played a role in me being a little let down, but Tim Curry was obviously amazing, there were a few good songs, and the choreography/costumes were fun. as a movie, it’s pretty messy and incoherent but i guess that’s part of the charm, too. perhaps i’ll fall in love w it upon future viewings!

  • Child's Play

    Child's Play

    ★★½

this wasn’t good but at least the song Chucky sings over the credits slapped

  • Britney vs. Spears

    Britney vs. Spears

    ★★½

absolutely how is the paparazzi allowed to be a thing

  • Venom: Let There Be Carnage

    Venom: Let There Be Carnage

    ★★★

❤️‍🔥 LGBT Venom at the Little Simz show ❤️‍🔥

this was a much worse ~movie~ than the first one, but it really turned up the goofiness that i loved about the first one, so it kinda balanced out. i also loved the mrs. chen/anne scene 😁

  • Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings

Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings

    ★★★

fun! it’s refreshing to watch a MCU/comic book movie with a unique action style. the scaffolding scene really sticks out in that regard. idk if this is a hot take or not but Awkwafina was near insufferable for me during the first half of the movie — every single line was just bomb after bomb. didn’t expect this to go as heavy with the magic/fantastical stuff! that was cool. again, just another thing to set it apart from the rest. it did feel pretty long tho 🤞
