    Akira

    ★★½

possibly the most conflicted I’ve ever been giving a rating to a movie. Akira’s beauty is unquestionable and remarkably impressive...but I just don’t get it. the symbolism of a post-war, capitalistic, money-hungry country, losing its culture, one step at a time...is brilliant. but there was still so much that I just didn’t like about it. the score, the convoluted storytelling, the old-man-babies...I just...I don’t know.
