A Nightmare on Elm Street 3: Dream Warriors

A Nightmare on Elm Street 3: Dream Warriors ★★★

The one with all the memorable deaths.

With big hair, bigger ideas and a wisecracking, pantomime Freddy, Dream Warriors marks the end of malevolence and the beginning of a neutered franchise.

Despite the ridiculous plot and the painfully underused John Saxon, Chuck Russell creates a visual feast with all manner of special effects that sort of hold up even now. The Angelo Badalamenti score is rather atrocious and sounds for the most part as if he's had a stroke and fallen against a Casio Keyboard but overall, Nightmare 3 is an entertaining romp that ups the spectacle and finally manages to perfect Robert Englund's makeup and prosthetics.
