This is filmmaking and storytelling at it’s absolute best. Carol and Brokeback Mountain with some shades of The Neon Demon’s style all rolled into one. I was in awe; couldn’t have loved it more. A beautiful score and heart wrenching performances. I’ll be thinking about Moonlight for a long time.
It is said that "black" movies only get Oscar nominated when they're about slaves. If the Academy wants to avoid any "Oscars so white" backlash this year, don't just look to Nate Parker's Birth of a Nation, look to Barry Jenkins' Moonlight as well.
