This felt unapologetically Raimi, so I loved it. From the jump cuts, to the homages to The Evil Dead (which there were very many), to the horror, this made me very happy. I really enjoyed Elizabeth Olsen as Wanda in this and the star of the show was Xochitl Gomez as America Chavez, she is going to be massive. Stephen Strange also feels like a real person here, which is very appreciated. The two things I gather people seeming to not like the most, besides just not liking the story, are the script and pacing, and both worked for me. Don’t really want to spoil more.
I can’t stress this enough, I absolutely loved Wanda in this. Mommy Elizabeth Olsen deserves the world.
I did not get that the casting of a character who debuts about halfway through was so controversial, but I really fucking loved seeing them and am excited to see what is done with the character next.
