Hot Take Nick’s review published on Letterboxd:
So I have a feeling this is going to be contrary to a large majority of opinions once the wide release comes, but I fricken loved this. I’m not sure if seeing this on a big screen vs at home had anything to do with it, but this was just a bada** mindless action movie. Led by a strong trio of Gosling, Evans, & de Armas, solid action sequences, huge set designs & locations, & a bonus of a rollicking score to go along with it all.
Does this movie have issues? Sure (Ana de Armas is grossly underutilized here for one). Is it perfect? Far from it. Am I too easy to please? One could very easily make the argument. Maybe I had overly tapered expectations going in but they were exceeded & then some. I’m super down for whatever sequels &/or spin-offs I read are rumored to be in the works.
