Hot Take Nick’s review published on Letterboxd:
This was fricken great.
Honestly the best satire I’ve seen in as long as I can remember.
Probably helped that the audience I saw it with was great and really into it.
The child actors were great. Sam Rockwell and Scarlett Johansson were great. Waititi playing Hilter was hilarious. The actress living in the walls was great.
Side note: I really did not like Best of Enemies. I thought it felt way short of being as an impactful movie as it should have been given the topic it was addressing and story it was attempting to convey. (I also fell asleep during it).
On that note, I’m glad Sam Rockwell nailed it on this one. I know they’re totally different movies and Rockwell wasn’t bad in the other but I kinda consider these movies in the same overall umbrella genre in terms of being historical in nature and this one actually hit in a big way. Kind of a weird connection to make I know but it’s one I couldn’t shake.
Great movie. I had heard good things going in but still wasn’t sure what to except but ended up being far from disappointed. Really great time.
