obv has a lot to say about white co-opting of immigrant culture, spaces and identity, eventually infecting and dismembering their bodies as well.
the core father/son dynamic truly elevates the material along with the family element which makes the film feel much deeper than it might actually be. that said, for a superhero entertainment to have references to and imagery of a caged Mexican family, at times blue beetle feels borderline revolutionary. george lopez fully earns the AND.

Almost too specific of an LA white male fantasy to the point that it felt a little alienating to me. Great performances and loved the cinematography but the John Michael Higgins part(s) are embarrassing.
