The Little Things

The Little Things ★★★★

Decided to give it a watch because I had some conflicting feelings about certain decisions made throughout this movie and I'm glad I did. The ending was the biggest one as I didn't know if I liked it or was disappointed and I'd have to say the ending actually worked better than it did for me the first time. Another thing was Rami Maleks performance who for the most part worked for me the first time but after this re-watch I really started to notice a lot of flaws and how he was overall miscast. He's a great actor when given the right role and while I can't say he gave a bad performance, what he was given just wasn't for him.

But Denzel Washington was just as good as I remembered and his backstory really popped a lot more for than the first time I watched it. When I first watched it, it was more of just wanting to get back to the main mystery but re-watching it made me really like it and get super invested into that story line. And Jared Leto shined for me on this viewing. On my first viewing he was just ok and a good fit for the movie but now he's one of my favorite parts of the movie. His performance is one of the best and a great match up to Denzel.

The movie's directing is just as good as I remembered. It was easily one of the best parts of the movie and I'd have to say I loved it. The cinematography and especially that score that added so much tension to certain scenes. The Little Things is a movie that deserved a re-watch for me and I'm glad I did. There were some things that I liked even more and some issues that stuck out a bit more but watching certain details I missed knowing the end is always a lot of fun.
