While I can see how some people would have fun with this, I just watched it too late in life to enjoy it. It’s a fun movie but it’s so poorly made. From the acting, effects, and story, it all is really bad. Especially the effects which don’t get better from what I’ve heard. I still had some fun with this though and that’s my main reason for now going with a lower score but if this was boring, it would be a one star film.
That’s honestly the only thing this movie has going for it. It’s quick and entertaining. The fights have pretty basic fight choreography and some of which is just straight up bad but overall the campy nature of the fights were pretty fun. The acting is also not good at all. They have some fun characters and the actors that play Johnny Cage and our lead do fine, but a lot of the side characters and even the main police girl were really bad.
Mortal Kombat is a really poorly made movie that I had some fun with. Overall it’s on the mixed side as there were things I liked and didn’t like but I can see people really enjoying this as a nostalgic guilty pleasure movie. If I would’ve watched this when I was younger even with modern technology I probably would’ve enjoyed it more but I never did. I wouldn’t recommend this to anyone who hasn’t seen in 2021 unless your a Mortal Kombat fanatic.
