Henry’s review published on Letterboxd:
Weird: The Al Yankovic Story is such a refreshing biopic that never takes itself seriously, not even once. Weird Al being upfront about basically lying about everything that happens in the movie is hilarious by itself, but the fact that some of the events are so clearly exaggerated really adds to the satire of the genre. I wouldn’t say I’m a die hard Weird Al fan by any means, but I’m definitely familiar with all of the songs highlighted in this film and the ways they were worked into the story were so hilarious. The cast was brilliant with a lot of excellent cameos from other comedies, but the star of the show is obviously Daniel Radcliffe. He absolutely captures the weirdness, for lack of a better word, of Weird Al and his physicality adds a lot to the humor. I do think the third act goes a little off the rails once it gets into the stuff with Madonna and Pablo Escobar, but the rest of the film was so fun that it’s easy to look past that.
