Scream

Scream ★★★★½

Daily Horror Hunt #43 (January 2022) 7/31
Scream 5 is coming out this month. Let's celebrate by watching a Scream movie or a film directed by Wes Craven.

I decided to rewatch the first film in the Scream franchise because the new one is coming out soon. Scream was a huge hit in the late 1990s, and it was a part of my childhood. Everyone I knew dressed up as Ghostface for Halloween or watched Scream. Heck, I still remember watching Scream for the first time when it came out on VHS. It helped reintroduce the slasher film genre to a new generation of horror fans. Even after 25 years, Scream is still a great film.

Scream's use of horror movie tropes and clichés to tell a fun story is still one of my favorite aspects of the film. They did a good job of making the film feel like it was set in our world by having characters be familiar with real-life horror films and their iconic story moments. In 4K UHD, the movie looks incredible. You can really see the full details now, and it makes Mark Irwin's (Videodrome) cinematography look even better than before. Scream also has a good cast of characters and Ghostface would become the most well-known horror movie character of the 1990s.

There's not much more I can say about this film that hasn't already been said. You should see Scream as soon as possible if you haven't already. Rating: 9/10
