Ok I was not expecting to like this so much. I am normally not a fan of explaining too much behind a movie but for some reason this works at giving us a creepy and fun origin story for the first one. Although it isn't as scary as the original, it's pretty close and manages to deliver a lot of tension and pretty good scares.
It was a bit too slow but overall a really fun found footage horror with a great atmosphere that managed to actually frighten me sometimes.
Knowing that Stephen Cognetti directed all four, I'll probably be watching the other ones.

There’s nothing I can say about this that hasn’t been said before. Wes Craven changed the horror genre with this movie, starting this new trend of satire and “meta” that many tried to recreate but were never successful at. This movie is clever, entertaining, well written, has great acting like Matthew Lillard’s performance, my favorite in the movie, and one of the best final girls. I could say so much more about it, it’s a classic.

It’s the first Halloween without John Carpenter, which is definitely noticeable. Despite that, the movie still has some tension and some great moments. The final duo is easy to root for and Donald Pleasence  gives us a great performance as usual. I also loved the ending, which made me want to watch the 5th film!
It’s a fun Halloween movie with an 80’s slasher feel to it, especially in the more comedic moments. I just wish we could have seen more of Michael but it’s all around a fun and enjoyable movie.
