• Calm with Horses

    Calm with Horses

Bleak and unflinching but let down by meh ending.

  • Old

Okay so the concept is bonkers but the execution is excellent. Old mixes good old fun body horror shocks with our fears of ageing and illness to produce something quite thoughtful about making the most of our time alive.

The cast is superb and will we see a better character name than Mid-sized Sedan this year?

  • The King

    The King

The funniest moment is Robert Pattison in a very bad French accent saying “Giant balls with a tiny cock!”

    This isn’t a comedy.

  • First Cow

    First Cow

I taste London in this cake.

I really wasn’t expecting to be moved by this in the way I was.

  • Split

I went into this thinking I was getting a horror but it’s actually a thriller, not that I’m complaining, with some Toothfairy vibes going on. It loses momentum part way through but worth a watch for McAvoy’s performance alone.

  • Varda by Agnès

    Varda by Agnès

Agnes Varda dressed as a potato is my queen.

  • The Celebration

    The Celebration

What an astonishing debut. The Dogme 95 handheld camera style filming feels gimmicky now but it’s rules that story, acting, and theme still command your attention.

  • Koko-di Koko-da

    Koko-di Koko-da

Intrigued by the concept but the execution was poor, Antichrist, The Babadook, Don’t Look Now - take your pick they’re all way better than this.

  • Creep 2

    Creep 2

Lacks the WTF and genuine horror of Creep but ups the queasiness in the addition of Sara.

  • The Dead Don't Die

    The Dead Don't Die

Just disappointing really, not even Adam Driver in uniform did it for me.

  • Another Round

    Another Round

There is a moment when the tone changes and it moves from what is quite frankly a complete riot to something much deeper and not at all about alcohol. The final scene is just glorious.

  • Cléo from 5 to 7

    Cléo from 5 to 7

I just want to live in Agnes Varda’s Paris in the 1960s with Cleo and her kittens.
