Happiest Season

Happiest Season ★★★½

"Where should I put this white elephant gift?"
"I don't know! In the oven? Jesus, Abby where do you think it goes? Under the damn tree."

First off, Christmas is my favorite holiday. I love it. But I'm not much of a romcom Christmas person. I'm more of a horror Christmas and darker Christmas films. But I wanted to see this because it's a gay Christmas film starring Kristen Stewart and Mackenzie Davis. And I'm a fan of both of these actresses. Who knows maybe this year I'll try more of variety of Christmas films.

Before watching this I thought it was going to be the lesbian version of Make the Yuletide Gay (2009), which has the same premise as this one. It's a real cute gay Christmas film. But Happiest Season is a lot more sad and I didn't expect that.

But yeah, I have kinda mixed feelings on this film. I thought it was really funny. Mary Steenburgen is hilarious. Kristen gives a great performance. Aubrey s just so cool. And I loved Mary Holland as Jane. But there was a lot of mixed messaging which I just didn't like. Mackenzie Davis' character is extremely unlikeable in this and is just mistreating Kristen Stewart for like an hour and a half. It's a toxic relationship and I didn't like the relationship. Girl... I would NEVER, okay 😂😂
