Heather’s review published on Letterboxd:
I’ll start off by saying I’m VERY historically ignorant about a lot of things, especially anything past the white savior narrative that gets brainwashed in schools in America. The rise of Black filmmakers being the chance to tell their own history has been a wake up call for how disgustingly one sided history is and just how much important and impactful history is left out.
Daniel Kaluuya is an absolute legend in the making. Not only is he one of the most versatile actors around right now, he’s such an incredible non-verbal performer in how he uses his eyes. Lakeith Stanfield, Ashton Sanders and Dominique Fishback all give AMAZING performances as well. I’d really like to see a Ensemble nomination for this cast.
