Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings

Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings ★★★½

Simu Liu is the man!

The action in this is brilliant and easily the best of the MCU; fitting right in with the choreography of films like House of Daggers and Crouching Tiger. While it doesn’t reach the heights of those Kung Fu movies in story, it’s still a great time with a great villain. Tony Leung is fantastic and really sells the emotional core of this movie; making it rise above many superhero origins as his villain wasn’t just a blank slate for our hero to punch and earn his colours. Speaking of heroes, Simu Liu is a welcome addition to the MCU and is certainly the perfect fit. The one issue is that the 3rd act doesn’t quite deliver when compared with the first two acts but it still works despite being a bit of a CGI fest. Overall, definitely an upper tier Marvel movie and a decent time.
