So this movie is very tricky. It’s one of those movies that I genuinely had an amazing time and enjoyed pretty much every minute, but have some problems with that I can’t completely identify. First of all, America Chavez is so incredibly annoying that I was constantly rolling my eyes. Her acting is really mediocre and I’m really not looking forward to seeing her future in the MCU. She gains no development other than the Will to try harder I guess.  Also, the movie really rushed into its central conflict way to fast. We get pretty much no time to get invested in this plot before the call to action. Wanda’s villainy was so rushed and this movie takes no time making her insane or making her completely overpowered. Yes I know there was that post credit scene in wandavision but I feel like there could’ve been more buildup. Also also, there is only madness in this movie in one or two scenes. The “madness” aspect of the title seriously should’ve been taken out. Lastly, the Illuminati is beaten so easily and it really annoys me.

To start my positives off, Sam Raimi’s style is so prevalent in this film. I feel the cheap thrills (but they’re fun cheap thrills) and some really effective scares at certain points, but also a great sense of ridiculousness and fun to be had here. There are a ton of moments here that put such a smile on my face, like the reveal of the Illuminati and its members, the tunnel scene, and the zombie strange. The action scenes are awesome, they’re really fun and show Strange use his powers in ways we haven’t seen before, at least in the movies. Benedict Cumberbatch and Benedict Wong we’re great, I love their characters, especially when they’re together they have great chemistry. However, the real one who stole the show was Elizabeth Olsen. She really taps into the insanity and emotion of this character and uses her powers to pretty gruesome extents. This was definitely the goriest MCU movie, and I was all for it. Lastly, I don’t think Wanda’s dead, that’d be such a waste. Overall, while Multiverse of Madness really underwhelmed me, it was still a pretty enjoyable film.

It’s an amazement that John Krasinski has two MCU roles!!!
