logging a review as im crying through the credits.. h8 that it’s so real. we haven’t seen anything depicted on screen (in quite some time) as honest as this in reflection of the reality with (all) the past relationships we have in our lives.
there’s a certain beauty to its writing that we could be any of the characters and simultaneously all at once, with its subtleties in delivery of something so intense such as yearning and acceptance; we see and feel through it all mirroring how we deal with it in reality—quietly and delicately.
cinematography, sound scoring, acting a+
has the potential to be a masterpiece if it was a limited series given the delivery of compelling characters, with their perfect casting, acting, cinematography, sound design, and scoring were all a+.
it would’ve been so much better if we spent more time with each character especially when we’re immediately familiar with the parallels irl of its world-building.
annoying tumblr kids we r so back
i watched this once in my childhood and never again because of how much it haunted me as a kid.
i’ve only ever watched it now as an adult and it is just as compelling, creative, and captivating as far as your core memory goes.
can’t help but greatly appreciate the animation, sound scoring, and magical artistry it brings with its world-building. it’s truly a masterpiece and is only going to age finely with time, especially as of present day, how rare stop-motion animation production is becoming.
