Video games, probably a big part of everyone's childhood to some extent. Now despite my love of video games, I don't consider myself the most hardcore gamer around. Video games, probably a big part of everyone's childhood to some extent. Now despite my love of video games, I don't consider myself the most hardcore gamer around. Don't get me wrong though, I grew up on alot of this stuff, but at the same time I feel as there were many more games that I missed out on.
I was more of a Nintendo and Sony kid, growing up on franchises such as Mario, Crash Bandicoot, Spyro the Dragon, The Legend of Zelda, Tekken, and more. I never owned a Sega console unfortunately, despite my major love for the classic Sonic games. I played them at friend's houses now and again, but it wasn't until compilation releases (e.g Sonic Mega Collecton) that I got to experience them in full.
I always did feel my taste was a bit narrow, being mostly interested in fighting games, platformers (like the afromentioned) and open-world action-games (like Grand Theft Auto), with an occasional racing game or FPS in there. Although I still have a soft spot for gaming, I've become a bit disgruntled with it in recent years, mainly because of the soulless franchise rehashing and disgusting practices like microtransactions and lootboxes (*cough* EA *cough*).
