Film #15 of 34 for Hooptober 8.0

I personally never cared about Lon Chaney, Jr’s Count Alucard. He’s necessary for the story, but he’s not a particularly interesting character or memorable performance unfortunately. What I loved most about this movie was Louise Allbritton’s Katherine. At first she seemed like just another forgettable love interest the hero and villain would fight over, but she was absolutely the most compelling character here. She’s cunning, manipulative, and has more agency than anyone else in the movie. I generally really enjoyed this movie, but she is what makes this memorable.
